Qualifications:
Graduate of a recognized community college Pharmacy Assistant or Pharmacy Technician programme.
Minimum of two years’ experience in a hospital or community pharmacy.
Preference may be given to candidates eligible for future registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists as a Registered Pharmacy Technician.
Typing, computer skills, aseptic technique, pharmaceutical arithmetic, working knowledge of pharmaceutical and medical terminology.
Experience with Meditech Pharmacy Module is preferable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepare sterile products (including chemotherapy drugs) using aseptic technique; stock replenishment for all patient care medications; transact physician’s medication orders under supervision of a pharmacist; patient data recording; compounding/manufacturing; drug packaging; inventory control functions; department record keeping and other tasks as required
