Job description
Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care, formerly the Mental Health Centre Penetanguishene, is a 312-bed psychiatric hospital situated on Georgian Bay. The hospital is recognized as progressive in the provision of exceptional care, research of severe behaviours associated with mental illness and for its contributions to awareness and understanding. Waypoint is an official University of Toronto teaching hospital and university based research academic centre.
Our pharmacy department is currently recruiting for a dedicated individual to provide professional pharmaceutical services to a psychiatric hospital including medication reconciliation and monitoring of drug therapy problems; to provide related consultative and education services and to assist in coordinating the activities of the pharmacy.

Qualifications:
Current registration as a pharmacist with the College of Pharmacists of Ontario.
Knowledge of:
* principles, theories and current best practices/techniques of professional pharmacy including up-to-date knowledge of drugs and medical practices, dispensing, compounding, repackaging, drug monitoring, and drug utilization reviews to provide the full range of pharmaceutical services to a large psychiatric facility; medication reconciliation
* instructional/presentation techniques
* relevant sections of legislation including but not limited to, the Narcotic Control Act, Regulated Health Professions Act, Food and Drugs Act and current mental health issues
* computer applications such as Microsoft Office and pharmacy data basing systems, and techniques to maintain records and report on pharmaceutical activities
The position also requires:
* ability to provide technical supervision to Pharmacy Assistants, ensuring strict adherence to all regulations; regularly checking preparation and accuracy of completed assignments; providing training to new staff members. Supervising work of students (assigning work, evaluations)
* strong analytic skills with attention to detail for adherence to standards
* effective interpersonal, written & verbal communication skills
* physical co-ordination and dexterity to dispense drugs (e.g. counting, packaging and labelling
medications), prepare compounds (e.g. mixing ingredients) and to key data into computer
Position requires proficiency in English and French. Less qualified candidates may be considered.
