Job description

Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, to perform the technical functions of filling prescriptions and to assist in the related administration under the direct supervision of the pharmacist and provide timely and superior customer service.

Principal Responsibilities:
Operational
Assist the Pharmacist with the preparation, packaging and distribution of patient prescriptions.
Evaluate legality, interpret and input all prescriptions, labels and consent forms to ensure patient information is up to date and in the pharmacys computer system.
Complete documentation i.e. Third party management and reconciliation, filling prescriptions, printing reports, invoices etc.
Maintain a clean and organized workspace and dispensary.

Customer Service
Answer or direct inquiries regarding location of product, rain checks, refunds, exchanges, pricing etc.
Answer the telephone in a professional and courteous manner.
Address customer issues to ensure that all issues remain confidential and are resolved in a timely manner or when appropriate direct issues to the pharmacist.
Present the proper image to the public in accordance with pharmacy standards: clean appearance, approved uniform, and name badge.
Ensure all patient inquiries regarding prescriptions and non-prescriptions medications, uses, treatments, and recommendations are referred to the pharmacist on duty.
Ensure customers are referred to the pharmacist for direct involvement in the sales of restricted access OTC products.

Merchandising/Inventory Management
Maintain efficient flow of merchandise from receiving to the dispensary and update in the Nexxsys system.
Advise appropriate personnel of out-of-stocks or shortages.
Perform cycle counts; stock dispensary shelves and order supplies for the pharmacy.
Monitor inventory levels and identify approaching and critical expiration dates.
Face and fill OTC sections as required.
Assist in updating retails, costs and other product file information using Nexxsys.
Implement applicable marketing programs as set forth by the Pharmacists.
Prepare for inventory counts.

General
Ensure that all Loss Prevention systems are performed according to established guidelines.
Control cash, cheques, EFT slips etc, in accordance with Katz cash handling policies and procedures.
Perform the necessary cash register functions on the POS terminals in accordance with Katz policies and procedure.
Maintain standards of image and housekeeping.
Comply with all health and safety requirements.
Maintain confidentiality in all matters pertaining to Katz Group Canada Ltd. operations.
Perform other duties as assigned to support KATZ Group Canada Ltd.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

Certified Pharmacy Technician Diploma from a recognized College or training school required.
2-3 years continuous working experience in a pharmacy environment preferred.
Advance computer knowledge and skills; Windows proficiency required.
Demonstrated customer service skills.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Discretion in handling confidential matters.
Demonstrated reliability in previous work experience.
Previous Nexxsys experience is considered an asset.
Demonstrated problem solving skills.
Inventory control experience preferred.
