Pharmacy Technician

Position: Pharmacy Technician

Site: General

Unit/Department: Retail Pharmacy

Reports To: Manager, Pharmacy Operation

Hours: 1.0 FTE, days/evening, 8 hour shifts, including weekends

Status: Full Time Temporary (approximately one year)

Salary: $45,349.21 to $54,637.60 per annum

JOB SUMMARY:

Contributes to the operation of the Outpatient Pharmacy through the day to day business of a retail outpatient pharmacy (under the supervision of assigned Staff Pharmacists and overall supervision by the designated pharmacy manager). All roles are essential in providing a safe and healthy environment for patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and others by ensuring that health and safety policies are followed.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Recognized Pharmacy Technician's Course, Community College level.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience in retail pharmacy.
Experience with the Kroll pharmacy computer system.
Bilingualism in French/English an asset.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Computer skills.
Good written and verbal communicative skills.
Knowledge of the Ontario drug benefit & Third party drug plan billing procedures.
Accurate and pays attention to detail
Well-organized work habits.
Adaptability & ability to prioritize work (shifting work focus to meet client expectations).
Ability to work in a close team environment.
Cash handling skills & customer oriented focus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Demonstrates professional & courteous customer service
Performs Information gathering & Prescription data entry
Prescription Processing (counting, labeling & related filing responsibilities)
Performs Cash Register Functions
Maintains Inventory Management (Purchasing; Receiving & stock Rotation)
Performs Extemporaneous Compounding
